Blueberry Smoothie

3.6 (436)

A sweet smoothie packed with antioxidants! Feel free to substitute in your favorite berry powder. 1 Tablespoon powdered dehydrated blue... Blueberry Smoothie

  • Serves Makes 1 to 2 servings
  • Prep Time 5 minutes
  • Total Time 5m

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 5 ice cubes
  • 1 tablespoon powdered dehydrated blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Instructions

  1. Warm the honey in your hands or hold the jar under the hot tap for a minute first. Cold honey dropped onto ice seizes into a lump at the bottom of the jug and stays there.
  2. Put the milk and yoghurt in before the powder. Blueberry powder floats and clings to a dry jug wall, and washing it back down means adding water you had not planned on.
  3. Blend the liquids and the powder together first, then drop in the ice for a second, shorter blend. The powder needs a moment to open up and it will not do that in a jug full of ice.
  4. Expect the color to shift from purple to a dusty lavender as the dairy comes through. That is the pigment reacting with milk protein, not a fault in the powder.
  5. Taste once it is smooth. Dried berry is sharper than fresh, so this often wants a little more honey than the list suggests.
  6. Serve it immediately. Left standing, the powder settles into a sludge at the bottom of the glass, and a second blend brings it back thinner than it was.
