Ingredients
Instructions
- Three fruit powders and nothing else means the quality of each one shows, so sieve them separately and discard any hard amber bits. Those are fruit sugar that melted during drying and reset, and they will not dissolve.
- Stir the pineapple, orange and banana powders together before any water arrives. Banana is the heaviest of the three and sinks under the others if it is added to liquid on its own.
- Trickle the boiling water in while you stir. All three are high in sugar and will gum into a ball if the water comes all at once.
- Expect it to foam a little and then settle. Orange powder traps air as it wets, and the froth disappears while it stands.
- Taste it once it has cooled. This mixture is sharp, and if your baby is new to citrus it is worth letting it down with more water or leaning on the banana rather than serving it at full strength.
- Refrigerate leftovers covered and use them within three days. Acidic purees keep better than bland ones, but they also strip flavour out of metal, so use glass or plastic.
